Big Boy Visit

Every year of two Union Pacific sends out the last of their BIG steam locomotives on a good will tour of the mid-west.  They call this locomotive The Big Boy it is 132 feet long and weighs in at 1.2 million pounds (yes million).  For me The Big Boy is always a treat to see, hear, and feel.

I traveled out to Calvert Texas to see it passing through small town Texas.  I got there to find a lot of people had the same idea so it limited some of my photography.  Even with a lot of people at this location I was still able to get up close as it passed through.  Some have questioned my sanity as I was close, maybe too close, but it was a thrill to feel it as it passed.

Antique Visit

 A Visit to Round

Round Top Texas is an old Texas town that has become an antique stuff town.  A number of stores are dedicated to antiques and two or three times a year they have large gathering with "antiquers" coming from all over.  But our visit was not one of the occasions and it was Thursday so not all were open.  But with a need to get out and about we decided this was just a hour away so lets go have lunch and take some pictures.  So, here is some of what we saw.

Gypsy Horses

 Aunique Horse Ranch

A visit to the Aunique (A Unique) Horse Ranch in New Waverly Texas with the Houston Photowalkers was a great shoot.  These horses are the bloodline from the horses that the Gypsy pull there wagons with.  The Clydesdales that Budweiser uses are in the some blood lines as these are.
