Recent Wanderings

Some innocent wanderings so far this summer. As you saw in previous postings we went to Illinois to see our grandson play baseball, Between the two-weekends of games, there was a visit to Chicago area. Near our hotel in Schaumburg, there were two parks with some interesting photo ops. Here is a little sampling of some of the opportunities -

Spring Baseball

A spring trip to Illinois to watch grandson play some baseball. Last weekend we started in Galesburg, Illinois to watch the Region 4 NJCAA division playoff, Black Hawk College versus Carl Sandburg. Supposed to start at noon for a doubleheader on Saturday, BUT a rain delay crept in and the game didn’t start until 3. So! Only one game which was played which our grandsons team, Black Hawk College, won. Then Sunday they won again to take the division.

Macro Workshop

Recently I went to a Macro workshop hosted by Northwest Houston Photography Club (Link to the club web presence on the main page of this blog). Last month Kathy Adams Clark talked about Macro Photography and this month we had a hands-on time. A great learning experience.

Wandering in the Living Desert

Spent some time recently in the Palm Springs California area. Had the opportunity to wander through the Living Desert (http://www.livingdesert.org/) This is a first-class conservation zoo specializing in desert animals. If you are ever in the area take some time to visit. There are outstanding photo ops. They have an excellent giraffe area, and you can feed them too,

Presently there is a temporary exhibit of Lorikeets. As you enter they give you a small cup of nectar and the birds know what you have and they land on you and within minutes the nectar is gone.
