Catch Up 2

Here is some more on my fall Catch up.
My wife always enjoys Christmas Lights.  So I took her out to Magnolia Texas where a Mr. Gullo has a large display.  I know the best time to shoot Christmas lights is during the Golden Hour or Blue hour.  But we just had to go when we had time to look and take pictures at that time.  Here are a few I shot that night, all hand-held forgot my tripod.

Catch Up

I've not been very good at adding to my blog this fall.  Probably could think up lots of excuses, but, really just been lazy.  With this in mind, I will be adding some of my fall adventures over the few days.

Thanksgiving weekend I went to Huntsville State Park with NANPA (information on this organization can be found on the right side of this blog.)  There were some Texas "Fall Colors", not as vivid as in the Northeast, but you do with what you have dealt to you.  The high point for me was shooting through a crystal ball.  I enjoyed it so much I came home and ordered my own globe.

Shooting Christmas

Last year (November 8, look in the archives off to the right) I collected some articles and Youtube stuff about shooting Christmas.  Well, some things never change, so I challenge you to look back at those articles to refresh yourself to get ready for the great shooting season of Christmas.  I have to admit I am not a great fan of the commercial side of Christmas, BUT I do love the little kids and the mystery of Christmas in their little young lives.  In our immediate family, all my children and grandchildren in Texas are past the age of Christmas magic, so I have to rely on other peoples kids and grandkids to take pictures of kids Christmas mystery.  Here are some links to more Christmas (Holiday shooting):

100 Acre Wood Preserve

Visited 100 Acre Wood Preserve yesterday.  This preserve is part of the effort to build a chain of parks and trails along Cypress Creek from Hwy 290 to the east of I-45 where Cypress Creek joins Spring Creek. It was a HOT day but was bearable in the wooded area of the preserve.  I was with a group from the Northwest Houston Camera Club, it's always nice to be with a group like this where we can compare ideas and give encouragement.

Cricket

A couple weeks ago I shot some pictures at a local Cricket match (Tournament?).  They have a meet at Matzke Park (Grant Road at Jones Rd).  It's taken me a while to sort and post process (if any) to get to this point.  Did I understand all about Cricket?  NO!  I reviewed the rules and concepts on YouTube before I went, so I had a basic understanding,  good thing I did, too.  It was interesting and fun, and I will go back.  For more information and schedule visit their website at http://www.houstoncricket.org.
